New Year, New You?


While I'm not typically one to wait til the beginning of a new year to make changes in my life, I do like how a new year gives you a clean slate and motivation! Instead of just focusing on what I want to change, I always want to focus on things I am doing that I want to keep up in the upcoming year! I think its good to remind myself that I am doing some good things for myself and to keep up with them as I make other changes. Most of my resolutions & habits revolve around self care! I think it is so important to make yourself a priority and do things that are good for you and make yourself happy!

The rest of this month's posts are going to be based of the below resolutions and habits I want to keep up.

3 Things I Will Continue Doing in 2018

1. Working Out - The last year and a half I have been in the most consistent routine of working out that I've ever had. I'm on the lookout for finding a new gym that I like that has strength training/cardio classes. I will keep up going 2-3 times per week but want to add going to a yoga class on the weekend as part of my weekly routine.


2. Keep Skincare a priority - Since I was a teenage I've always had some sort of skincare routine. As I got into my upper 20s I started to try new products and focus on what my skin needed. In the last year I really think I've put together a morning and night routine that works for me and my skin has been better for it. I'll be posting an updated skincare routine soon!

3. Travel - There is really nothing that brings me as much joy as traveling! New places, experiences, people, food, views... I could go on forever! My goal each year is to travel to a new city that I have never been to before and I've done this for over 15 years! I have several trips already on the books for the year but still need to confirm my trip for a new destination.

3 Resolutions for 2018

1. Find a way to eat healthy that works for me - Although I've tried different diets, I firmly believe most of them aren't sustainable. This month, I am doing a clean eating challenge. It is pretty restrictive but I'm 11 days in and honestly feel great. I've done several cleanses/ clean eating times and never had felt this great or had this much energy. I'm hoping this month will help me create some good habits that I can keep up!

2. Keep a Consistent Blog Schedule - I've shared a few times in the last year how I'm disappointed that I have not been as consistent at posting as I have been years before. Starting now you will see more content and hopefully soon a new look and some extra features on Everyday K!

3. Buy Smarter not More - I've started this a bit but I really want to focus on what I purchase in the next year. I want to make sure it is items that will last longer and really add to my wardrobe. I will spend more on these items but have them forever.

Every quarter I'll be doing a check in to see how I am doing with each one of these things!

Teddy Bear Coats

One of my favorite trends lately is what I like to call the teddy bear coat! I shared in this post that it was one of my favorite purchases of 2017. We have had some unbearably (no pun intended) cold weather lately and all I want to do is wrap myself in something warm!

These coats are a great mix of comfortable and chic! I wear mine with both casual and dressy looks. My favorite way to wear mine is layered over skinny jeans, booties and a thick sweater! I like to pair my neutral colored coat with bright scarves and hats to make a statement. The colored coats make a statement on their own.

Best of 2017


I hope everyone had a great New Year's eve! I prefer low key NYE and this year went to a party at a friends house. The highlight was definitely the glitter confetti we popped at midnight! Talk about the best photo ops of the night!

As I start a new year I like to look back on the past year. I thought I would share the best purchases I made over the past year. I'm only including the ones that you can still purchase now, since I don't think it would be useful to share anything you can't get anymore.

This list has a mixture of splurges and deals. When making purchases over the last year I tried to focus on quality and classic items. That doesn't mean I steered away completely from trendy items, I just tried to keep them to a minimum. By far my favorite purchase of the year was the Chanel bag I bought myself for my 30th birthday! This was a special purchase and something I was thinking and saving up for awhile so I'm not including it in my list for 2017.

Travel was a big part of 2017 for me and some of my best purchases reflect that. When I was planning my trip to Italy and Croatia I knew I needed a great pair of tennis shoes that I could wear with everything. I didn't want them to look like work out tennis shoes and wanted to be able to pair them with shorts, dresses, and pants! As someone that rarely wears tennis shoes outside the gym, this was quite the task but I fell in love with this pair. They got me thru my trip to Europe and I actually find myself wearing them more often than I ever thought!

A pair of black jeans has been on my list for awhile. I just hadn't find the right pair for me, until these! These fit like a glove and dress up any look. I like pairing them with black booties, like these, to create a long lean look!

Buying lugging can be stressful, atleast it was for me, until I found Away luggage. This carryon has everything I can ask for: hard shell, divider, lock, 360 degree wheels and a usb charger! I decided to get the dark green color so I would recognize my luggage in the sea of black and red suitcases. I will probably be purchasing the medium size one in the next couple weeks!

After wearing over the knee boots for a few seasons and realizing how versatile they are I decided to invest in a high quality pair. When they were 30% off I I tried on several different styles and settled on the Stuart Weitzman Tieland Over the Knee Boots. I wear these boots all the time, with sweater dresses, leggings, jeans and skirts! They are great for both work with a sweater dress and tights or for a night out with a leather skirt!
