Whether it is a boyfriend, husband, brother or father most of us have at least one man on our Christmas shopping list! Many years I find that it is hardest to buy for my dad and brother. Like it or not, the Christmas season is here and with it comes lots of parties! In the next few weeks I'll be sharing several holiday outfit ideas. First off is the work Christmas party. For a work event I thinks it is important to balance sophistication and festiveness.You can't go wrong with a little red dress! The midi length adds polish to the bright red color. An update to classic pumps in a plaid print adds a special festive touch. When you keep the shape simple, a print won't overwhelm the look. Christmas parties are the perfect reason to add sparkle to your look. These earrings are bold enough that they are the only jewelry you need! Birthday Wish List


I had the best weekend filled with family and friends. Today is my birthday (28! woo hoo!) so Friday a few of my friends and I went to dinner at Eischen's. For those not from Oklahoma, Eischen's is a bar in my hometown that is famous for it's fried chicken! (YUM!) The rest of the weekend was spent watching football and then I hosted Friendsgiving on Sunday! I really couldn't ask for a better Birthday weekend.

What better way to celebrate my Birthday than sharing some things I have been eyeing lately! Fur, fur, fur... I can't get enough. This faux fur jacket is the absolute chicest way to stay warm! I want to just cuddle up with it. It would look great with everything but my favorite way to style it is with ripped denim and heels! If you know me, you know I'll never say no to a glass of bubbly so this phone case is perfect for me! Ever since this post I've been searching for grey suede over the knee boots and I think this is the perfect pair! I love how the drawstring in the back will keep them from falling down, genius! On the other end of the shoe spectrum are tennis shoes. I don't normally get to excited about buying a new pair until I found these metallic nikes!

Kate Spade now has purses with built in iphone charges!! How incredible is that? This striped wristlet is perfect for a night out or toss it in your tote bag and your phone will never die! If I were a shoe, I definitely think I would be this JCrew pair. Velvet, ankle straps and bow... perfection!! They would be great alternative to heels for any upcoming Holiday parties you have! I've been wanting to make a few updates to some of the decor in my house and pillows are such an easy way to do it. Two of these leopard pillows would look perfect on my couch!

Stay Warm

On Saturday, I will be bundling up to watch the last home football game for my alma mater. I'll need lots of layers to survive the game, the low is 35 degrees! A final piece on your head is key to keeping warm. I'm a firm believer that you can stay stylish while you are trying to stay warm. I love beanies and think this grey striped one might be my favorite! I also love this Kate Spade one with the bow. 

A friend recently told me she didn't like how she looked in beanies, so I found some other great options. These fur earmuffs add a bit of luxury to your look and these shearling ones are classic and will pair with every coat you have. For extra warmth, this headband is fur lined for extra warmth. These earmuffs plug into your phone and will play audio!

Sweater Dresses





I don't need another reason to love Fall, but if I did sweater dresses would be a great one! Sweater dresses are another great piece for anyone's wardrobe because of their versatility. They are especially great for transition from work to fun. The leopard sweater dress above is from last year but I have picked some great ones below.  You can sweater dresses in all types of silhouettes but my favorite is fitted. With types and booties, this dress is perfect for work. If I switched it out for my knee high boots (seen here) this dress would be great for a date.

Let's Play Dress Up







This weekend I attended one of my friend's weddings! It was an incredibly fun night of spending time with some of my best friends. I spent most of the night dancing and enjoying a few glasses of bubbly. My feet definitely paid for all the dancing the next day! 

I took this wedding as an opportunity to use Rent the Runway for the first time. In case you haven't heard of it, Rent the Runway is an online site that you rent fashion. You can rent clothes and accessories! It is a great option for special events or any time you want something extra special. The rental prices are a fraction of the actual cost of the items. I loved that I got to wear a designer piece but didn't have to make the financial commitment to purchase it!

It's a fun and simple process! You shop online and pick out what you need and when you need it. There are so many styles and they are constantly adding more to the site. Once ordered, it arrives the day before your event. The best part is that you get 2 sizes so you don't have to worry about it not fitting. The day after you wear it, you send it pack in the packaging it came in and included postage. It's that easy!

Now that I've used it once, I'm already thinking of times I can do it again!!! Wouldn't this, this and this be fun for upcoming holiday parties?

I got these earrings as an early Birthday present and they went perfectly with the dress. I kept the rest of my look simple. I love this oversize monogrammed clutch. It is just big enough to carry all of your evening essentials! The snakeskin pattern adds subtle interest and I love anything that is monogrammed!!

More Cape Love





I have not taken this striped cape off since I bought it! A cape is the perfect fall outerwear piece. I mentioned in this post how much I am loving capes so I wanted to share one of the many ways I've been wearing it. Its an outfit maker and elevates any look. If I take off the cape, this outfit is really simple and full of basics. Another outfit option for this cape is over a shift or tshirt dress. A cape can help transition a piece that is meant for warmer weather. 

I just recently discovered this long sleeved shirt and it is perfect for layering. It's thin enough to go under sweaters but not too sheer that it can't be worn alone. The best part is that it is under $20 and comes in several colors. I'm also so excited that I can finally pull out my knee high boots again!

Room for Pie


This weekend brings my first of 3 Thanksgivings! I can't wait for stuffing, green bean casserole and a piece of pie. I put together 2 outfits that are perfect for Thanksgiving. The best part is they leave room for you to have seconds.

I love this look for a Thanksgiving that is a little dressy. Black jeans are a great way to dress up a look but still have the comfort of denim.  Peplum is a flattering silhouette everyone and the details on this top call for simple accessories.

Casual in Plaid







This weekend I had a great time at my Godchild's birthday party. We took her and a bunch of her friends to a local state park to go horseback riding! It was a gorgeous day with just a bit of a chill. My look was comfortable and easy for the party! 

There may not be anything more fall than a plaid flannel top and a vestI recently picked up this plaid top from H&M. I bought it a little big because I wanted the oversized look. It is also longer in the back, which I love in tops. You could easily dress up this plaid top by tucking it into a skirt and adding heels. For my casual look I added black riding boots and a quilted vest. I love love love this vest! I turn to it over and over again thru Fall and Winter. It layers over everything and is the perfect thing to complete so many looks.

Is it a Cape or is it a Poncho?


Maybe it's my desire to feel cozy or my love of layers but I've been obsessing over ponchos and capes this Fall! Capes and Ponchos are everywhere and definitely one of Fall's biggest trends. They can be statement makers and really add a special touch to any outfit. Taking the place of a jacket, they can keep you just as warm. 

What makes it a cape or poncho is debatable and some interchange the two words. Please just humor me and my definitions, if only for the sake of this post! I like to think of capes as being open in the front and ponchos aren't.

Capes are a little more versatile than ponchos. Capes can be worn with pants, skirts dresses etc. There are prints and colors for all different styles. I love this color blocked cape with a pop of red. I recently purchased this black and grey reversible cape and have worn it everywhere! I throw it on before I head out for the day and I'm warm and cozy. It's even gone over my workout clothes when I run errands after a work out. The reversible cape is also available in navy, camel, and burgundy! If you need one on the sophisticated end, I would suggest this black and white plaid one. It can be worn to the office instead of a blazer. 

If you are afraid of these toppers adding extra weight to your look, keep your layers under the cape slim fitting and neutral. You can also add a belt over the cape to show off your shape.

Ponchos, while not quite as versatile, are still a great fall purchase! I like to style them with your favorite pear of jeans and knee high boots. The fringe on this one and this one tackles two fall trends in one piece. This cowl neck poncho is a great take on your favorite sweater. The shape updates your typical jeans and sweater look. When it gets a bit cooler, just add a long sleeved top under and you are good to go!

The neutral check print on this poncho makes it a versatile option. It would work equally great with distressed denim or your favorite work pants. The mohair fabric makes it really luxurious, especially for the price tag.

Black on Black






I am definitely a lover of color but there is nothing better than a monochromatic black look! It's easy, chic and flattering! The best part is that almost everyone can put together a similar outfit with pieces they already own! I needed a quick and easy outfit the other day so I layered this new H&M sweater, my favorite pixie pants (last seen here) and the most comfortable lace up flats (see more here). 

We need to talk about this sweater, it is even cuter in person! Texture and fringe are very on trend this season and this sweater has lots of both. The fringe detail is my favorite part. In come cases, I have found fringe to be too overwhelming or bulky on a sweater. This one has just enough without adding any excess bulk. Its the perfect throw on and go sweater. Online you can only get the white but the black is in stores!

The only way to top off an all black look is with a red lip! I love a pop of color and black and red are a timeless combo. You can find my favorite red lipsticks here

Wrap it Up


It is my favorite month of the year! Not only is November my birthday month (21 days) but Fall is in full force and Thanksgiving is coming! I have so many things I want to do this month to take advantage of this time of year. My style starts to turn cozier this time of year. I love comfortable layers that work for the varying temperatures throughout the day. An easy way to add style and personality to layered outfits is a scarf. I know wearing a scarf is not a new earth shattering trend, but each year brings a new update to them. 

Big chunky scarves are calling my name this year! I love how you can wrap yourself up in them. I love a classic plaid blanket scarf (seen here) but lately have been drawn to a more color blocked print. I think it is just enough to update the look.

I love the saturated colors in these scarves. You can find the right color combo that will work with your wardrobe. Blanket scarves can also be worn open as a poncho or shawl. This is an especially great option when it gets cooler. I'm now just trying to decide which one of these needs to come home with me!
