Cozy Sweater

It may be almost November but fall finally decided to show up this week! I immediately pulled out this cozy cowl neck sweater. It is one of the softest sweaters I own! It comes in several colors but I've been obsessed with green lately (as seen here)! Sometimes thicker sweaters can look bulky when they are tunic length. This sweater has slits on the sides that help make it more flattering to your shape. The shorter sleeves are perfect for the beginning of Fall. When it gets colder I plan on layering a long sleeved shirt underneath.

I haven't stopped wearing these jeans (last seen here) since I bought them a few months ago! They are the perfect weekend pair and I've worn them with everything. The higher waist is really flattering, especially if you are self conscious of your midsection.

This sweater also paired great with my white jeans! It was an easy way to get to keep wearing my white jeans after Labor Day (not that anyone should follow that rule).

Spring to Fall

When I initially bought these pants in the Spring, I thought they would just be appropriate for Spring and Summer. I've grown to love them so much that I wanted to make them work for another season! As always, it's how you style something that makes it work.  Pairing your favorite fall items with more summer clothes can make your wardrobe more versatile!

In this case the pants need some darker colors to offset the pink. This navy top I recently picked up from H&M is perfect! Paired with neutral shoes and accessories, the top makes the outfit Fall appropriate. The floral print I have on is sold out but there are several other great options! This top is longer in the back, which I love!

Other ways of styling these pants would be to wear them with a grey, camel or black blazer!! One of my favorite color combinations is grey and pink (seen here)!

Currently Craving: Shades of Grey

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9

I started to put together a few of my current favorite things and realized I'm really into grey! These dove grey jeans and this cozy cardigan were both ordered last week. I think grey can be a fun alternative to other neutrals, especially in the fall. I am obsessed with these glittery flats, they would make such a fun alternative to heels. They are dressy enough to be worn out with your favorite dresses. They would equally be fun with a pair of boyfriend jeans and a cozy sweater. I think they need to be added to my Birthday list!

I love over the knee boots and these flat ones are a little less intimidating than most and under $100! Dresses are the easiest and quickest outfits to put together. I love this grey sweater dress for work and this more casual one for the weekend!

Do you love grey as much as I do? What pieces are you currently craving?

Jeans and a Tee

Somedays you just want something simple and easy. Wants simpler and easier than jeans and a t-shirt? Before my recent string of trips, I headed to Madewell to get a new pair of jeans. I wanted distressed, but not distressed and dark but not too dark. Easy, right? Madewell had the perfect pair for my very specific request. The fit on these is exactly how I like my skinny jeans. They skim my legs perfectly and are tight enough thru the ankles that I can tuck them into booties. I love the distressing on these jeans, it is just in a few places.

These jeans can be worn with about anything but yesterday I wanted to be comfortable. I pulled out this new t-shirt. The rounded hem and ribbed cuffs on this shirt makes it just a little different. With a price tag under $10, I also bought it in grey! I completed my look with my new favorite booties (also seen here and here).

Sweating in the Fall

Still waiting for Fall here in Oklahoma! I've turned to putting together simple outfits. I'm trying to feel Fall like but not get overheated when the temps hit 90 degrees.

A great alternative for the warmer Fall times is a short sleeved sweatshirt. The last few seasons short sleeved sweatshirts have been everywhere! Many have fun embellishemnts, like the metallic print on this one, that elevate the look. The embellishments dress them up and make them office appropriate. Who doesn't want to wear a comfy sweatshirt to the office and get away with it? This one is old but I love this lace one and this one. The embellishment on this one means you don't need any jewelry!

When I need to quickly complete an outfit, I go for my favorite drapey dress pants (similar here and here) and pointy toed heels! These basics get more wear then anything else in my closet. Just changing up the top will completely change your look.! I pulled out my favorite black bag to add a bit of sophistication.

Under $100: Faux Leather Leggings

Although I'm still waiting on consistent Fall weather (yesterday the high was 90), it hasn't stopped me from dreaming of Fall clothes. I have recently been looking for faux leather leggings and found four great pairs that are all under $100.

1 - 2 - 3 - 4

Faux leather leggings can go with many items already in your wardrobe. I will be styling the leggings with some of my favorite tunic length sweaters. Adding some pointy toed pumps will dress the outfit up and is perfect for a girls' night out or date night!

These leggings can be casual too! Layer a long t-shirt and cardigan and then add your favorite casual flats. I also love them paired with converse sneakers. It adds a high fashion edge to casual day wear!

If you are afraid faux leather leggings won't be flattering on you, try this spanx pair! These matted faux leather leggings are a great price.

Plaid in Brooklyn

Sadly, this is my last NYC post! One of our days in NYC included an afternoon in Brooklyn. We took the subway into Brooklyn and then wandered around for awhile. When we stumbled across this park with fallen leaves, I couldn't resist taking some pictures.

I picked up this checked top at Zara the day before.  The Fall like temperatures in NYC meant I could wear this top right away! I absolutely love plaid and checked patterns during the fall months. It makes me think of crisp weather, pumpkins and all things Fall. I bought the top a size up so it was longer and would pair well with my pixie pants. I couldn't resist wearing my new booties again. They are so comfortable and lasted a long day of walking!

Our Brooklyn adventures brought us to Berry Park. The rooftop restaurant had an incredible view of Manhattan.

Our evening plans included a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge back into Manhattan. This was my favorite thing we did in NYC! The view was breathtaking and something I will never forget. I would recommend this to anyone visiting NYC. We probably took 100 pictures during our walk!

I had been wanting this clutch for a long time and finally made the purchase. I love this purse and this one too! I love that you can add your initials to all of their bags!

Fall Basics

With any change in season, it is really fun to stock up on the new trending items. I have some posts planned for the next few weeks that will feature many of the biggest Fall trends. But before you buy the trendy items, it’s a good idea to have some great basics for the season. Your fall wardrobe will be built around these basics. These are the items that will be worn numerous times throughout the season. They will also be great for years to come!

1 - 2 - 3

One of the first things I reach for when Fall comes, is pixie pants. The pant/legging hybrid are the perfect basic! They work with a multitude of items you already have in your closet! I have worn them here. They pair best with tunic topics and sweaters. The slim fit of pixie pants is perfect for tucking in your favorite boots. They are also incredibly comfortable! One of my favorite weekend outfits is pixie pants, comfy sweater and knee high boots. Beyond the basic black ones, you can find them in all types of colors and some with special details like a leather stripe

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9

A great pair of booties will get you thru Fall and Winter in style.  I have lots of boots but find that I pull out booties more than any others. They look equally great dressed down with jeans as they do dressed up with tights and a skirt. These options all have a lower heel so they are comfortable enough to be worn all day. After purchasing these Kate Spade booties a few weeks ago (last seen here) I have barely taken them off!! These Madewell ones are pretty similar and a little easier on the wallet.

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7

Rounding out my favorite Fall basics is a cozy sweater in a neutral color. You'll definitely need a few sweaters to get you thru the cold months, but having a few neutral ones will give the most versatility to your wardrobe. Classic cable knits are always a great idea and this one comes in several colors. These sweaters are all great for layering. You can stick with neutrals and layer a classic white button down underneath. If you want to add some color you can go crazy with a patterned or bright colored shirt.

What are your favorite Fall basic items?

A Walk in the Park

Our last day in NYC was spent in and around Central Park. It warmed up a bit from the previous days so I pulled out my shorts (last seen here). A great way to transition into fall is to wear one of your favorite fall tops with shorts and flats. It's a great mix of Summer and Fall and perfect on days that are a bit warmer. I also like to incorporate Fall colors, like mustard and crimson, in my transitional outfits. Because of their flattering shape, I love peplum tops. They pair well with jeans, shorts and even skirts. This mustard top is old but one I always look forward to pulling out!

On our walk around the park, we made our way to the Met. We had our Gossip Girl moment and ate some ice cream as we sat on the Met steps! We had a beautiful view of the Upper East Side as we enjoyed our ice cream. These crimson loafers were good for walking all day. They come in a variety of colors and are so fun for fall!
