Crimson Piko Dress

I had a total fan girl moment when I went to the New York Public Library. I just kept thinking about the Sex and the City movie. This library is so stunning, every inch of it is photo worthy. I could have spent hours there just looking around and taking pictures!

I love this crimson piko dress! It is so comfortable and the perfect item for packing. The piko material is very soft and the dress comes in several colors. For a day of sightseeing I just added a leopard scarf and booties I bought the day before. Let's talk about these Kate Spade booties because they are perfect! I have been looking for a low heeled black versatile bootie for several years. The block heel is comfortable and worked well for a day of walking in NYC. Expect to see these booties on repeat all fall and winter.

Berry Lips

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen this pic from NYC. My friend, Meredith and I went to the Bite Beauty Lip Lab and each made a custom lipstick. For a lipstick addict like me, this was heaven! It was also a lot harder than I thought it would be. There were just too many possibilities that it took awhile to find the perfect color! As you can see above, the 5th time was the charm.

Here are all the shades that can be mixed together! Your personal beauty consultant asks a few questions to figure out what you are looking for, I wanted a berry color for fall. She also asked what type of finish I wanted: matte, sheer or cream. After she mixed a color, I would try it on and then discuss any changes I wanted to make. She was so patient with me and all the specific things I wanted. I started out with a cream finish but in the end went for a sheer finish to give me a wash of color.

Once you have finalized your color you get to pick out the scent and packaging. It makes the entire lipstick completely customized! I went with the mango citrus scent. After you have finally picked everything out they mix and make your customized lipstick. You can watch a video of the whole process here

The final product!!! It looks a lot darker than it actually is. Picking the sheer finish makes it more of a wash of color and less intense.

Since most of us aren't in NYC very often to make a lipstick, I found a few other fall colors I'm loving. A wash of berry color is my one of my favorite fall looks. When worn light it is great for day. Then just layer it on for a dramatic night look.

Give My Regards to Broadway

Wednesday night, I arrived home from a week in NYC. The first half of my trip was a conference that ended on Sunday. From Sunday to Wednesday was all fun. A friend of mine flew in on Sunday to join me and we spent the next 3 days exploring NYC. After checking into our hotel we ventured around Highline Park and Chelsea then made our way to Macy's. We ended our day seeing Book of Mormon and then enjoyed a late dinner of New York Style Pizza!

I recently purchased this black sleeved romper and felt it was perfect for our Broadway night! Every activity in NYC involves lots of walking, so I ditched my heels and wore glittery flats instead. I love how versatile the simple romper is. It can easily be dressed up and down for whatever situation you need. Later this season I'll be wearing it with tights and booties. The romper comes in several colors too! I love the crimson one especially!! This romper is a little low cut so I like to layer this black bralette underneath. Its a great layering piece to have!

Facial Pick Me Up

Yesterday I arrived in NYC and will be here for a week! This has been my third trip in the last 3 weeks and my skin has started to reflect that. While travelling is one of my favorite things to do, the change in my routine means a lot of healthy habits go out the window. I don't drink enough water or eat as healthy. Also, the dry airplane air just makes any problems you have worse!

To combat these issues, I have been giving my skin some extra attention when I am home. One of my favorite pampering treatments is Philosophy's Oxygen Peel. The two step process is a serious rejuvenator! After using it a few times I can see why it is a long standing customer favorite. It rapidly exfoliates your skin while giving it a ton of hydration. It also detoxes your skin which is really helpful in unblocking your pores.

Following the directions provided, you will apply both a gel and foam to your face. When they combine on your skin, they foam a bit. After just a few minutes you take the products off and your skin will look better immediately. I typically use it once a week, but to get ready for NYC I used it two days in a row!

Color Crush: Emerald

I’ve been known to fall in love with something and become obsessed. Whether it’s an article of clothing, trend, shoe or color, once I fall I just can’t give it up. My current obsession is Emerald Green. I have started seeing it everywhere and I have just realized that many of my latest purchases have been in that color (see here and here).

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9

Emerald Green is such a great color for fall. I love seeing it in cozy knits and jackets. This jewel tone can pair great with many other colors, my current favorites are gold and camel! This pencil skirt would great with a camel colored sweater. This dress could go from work to weekend when you change the shoes and accessories. When it gets a little cooler I would layer on my favorite fur vest!

Since it is not quite cool enough in Oklahoma to pull out all of my fall clothes, I'm going to get a taste of it by getting my next manicure in this color

Lauren Conrad Runway Collection

Thursday was the kickoff to New York Fashion week. I have been glued to my instagram and have gotten so excited about all the new lines. The downside to fashion week is that everyone is showing spring styles, so you have to wait awhile before you can purchase any of the items.

Thursday night Lauren Conrad made her fashion week debut with her first LC Lauren Conrad Runway collection with Kohl's. And unlike most other runway shows, her looks are available right now! I have been a fan of both of Lauren Conrad’s lines since the beginning.
This runway collection feels like a mixture of her Paper Crown line and LC Lauren Conrad line for Kohl's.

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5

I have to say that I think I would wear every single piece in the collection!! It took me quite awhile to narrow it down to 5 of my favorite looks. The soft color palette is so romantic and flirty. She has included a little bit of everything: skirts, pants, tops, rompers and dresses.
My first purchase may have to be the leather jacket. My biggest issue will be deciding whether to get green or pink.  The pink will extend its wear time into early Spring. The lace crop top and wide leg pants are such a fun take on a few of the latest trends but don’t feel too “trendy”. These tie waist blush pants are a great way for you to freshen up your work wardrobe.

Sometimes a sleeved maxi dress can feel heavy. The flirty cut and print to this one seem effortless and would look great with your favorite pair of booties.  There are some more dreamy pieces to the collection. I'm trying to come up with a reason to wear this gorgeous organza ball skirt or this ruffle dress

What are your favorite looks?

Green & Gold

I'm currently on a flight to Indianapolis for a quick conference. I'm packing really light so my plane outfit needs to serve double duty. I want something comfortable for travel but can be dressed up with a change of shoes. One of the best pieces for this type of outfit is pixie pants! I live in pixie pants during the fall and winter and they are the first thing I pack!

If you follow me on instagram, you saw that I recently checked out the new Madewell in Oklahoma City. I fell in love with some jeans (stay tuned for them) and this green crepe top.  It is the perfect piece to transition into fall. The tunic length is a great pair with pixie pants. The crepe material gives it a flattering structure. I also love how it is longer in the back! The top also comes in a really pretty brick color

Pillow Inspiration

I think decorating a home has a lot of similarities with putting together an outfit. Lately I have been wanting to update the decor in my home, starting with my living room.  I want to change up the "accessories" of the room to give it an updated feel. I want to start with the throw pillow on my couch and chairs! I've looked thru a few of my favorite online decor websites to find some inspiration.

2 - 3

I love how the combination of pillows can completely change the look of a room. You can go preppy and colorful, neutral and glam or anything in between. Pillows can be a quick change and aren't a big commitment. I also like the idea of changing the pillows with the seasons. I love these fur pillows and they would be fun to add during the fall and winter.

Labor Day Sales

We made it! Who is ready for the long weekend? I hope you are celebrating by soaking in the last days of summer! I am currently on my way to spend the weekend celebrating a friend at her Bachelorette Party. If you want to see where I'm going, follow me on instagram hereBesides the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day also brings some great sales.

Nordstrom's is having their end of summer clearance sale. This floral jumpsuit will transition into fall.  If you missed out on these fringe heels during the anniversary sale, now is the time scoop them up! I love the zip detail on this sweater! A leather jacket is a must for fall and winter and this one is a flattering fit.

JCrew is currently having an extra 30% off sale and 30% off full priced items when you spend over $125. I've been obsessing over these grey jeans.  This plaid boy shirt will be worn over and over this fall. Their sale stuff is great too. A simple cami is a great layering piece. This skirt is a fun twist on your basic pencil skirt. I've shared my love for stripes before and a sweater dress and t-shirt are great basics. Mules are back in style and I love this cranberry color!

Bauble Bar is also my go to for trendy jewelry! They have tons of styles on sale. These bright tassel drops are fun.  I love ear jackets like these and these. If you are looking for a statement necklace I would go for this and this
