Lace Up Flats

I am working on my list of fall trends and there is one that I wanted to share first! Lace up flats have popped up everywhere recently and its become one of my favorite trends. They are a great way to change up a typically flat. As you can see above, my favorites are the ones with a pointed toe.

Lace up flats are very versatile! From dressy to casual you can work these in a lot of different styles and situations. They are a great transition piece to take you into fall. While its still warm, dress up your favorite pair of shorts for a new look. A simple but cute outfit would be a colored pair of shorts, chambray top and lace up flats. When fall finally arrives, I plan on pairing them with tights or skinny jeans and an oversized sweater.

Updated Work Wardrobe

As I mentioned last week, I'm in a Back to School state of mind. Instead of shopping for new school clothes, I'm shopping for work clothes. My business casual dress code means I can still have some fun with my work wardrobe. Keeping a conservative silhouette, I like to add fun prints and colors to my work clothes.

I love the quilting on these black heels. They would look perfect with this leopard dress now and then add some tights when it gets cooler. Smoking slippers are a great shoe for fall and winter, this pair comes in tons of great colors. I have this sweater in black and purple and love to layer it with tops like this striped one. Blazers, like this one and this one, are a great staple for any work wardrobe.

On Wednesdays (or Mondays) We Wear Pink

One of my first posts covered my love of lipstick and I shared some of my favorite red lipsticks. Since that post was such a success, I thought I would now share my current top 4 pink lipsticks. All of these are pretty bright and can make a big statement. I think pink can look great on most skin tones. As summer ends, pink can accentuate the sun kissed look many of you are currently still rocking!

Mac Cosmetics has so many different colors that it can be overwhelming. After trying quite a few colors, this one has stuck with me! It's a classic barbie pink lipstick.

Revlon's Color Stay Lip stains have a lot of staying power. Even when the gloss wears off, you are left with an even stain. I've worn these lip stains when I'm in weddings and it lasts all night! When I wear this color, I always get lots of compliments!

I love a glossy lipstick but sometimes a matte look is a great change. All Fired Up is part of Mac's retro matte collection. This deep pink is highly pigmented and makes a big statement.

For those that don't want such a highly pigmented look as the previous 3 lipsticks, I would highly recommend Bare Escentual's Lip Oil Balms. The colors are bright but sheer. The color Punch Pop is a really pretty watermelon shade and the lip oil is super moisturizing.

I hope you check out some of these colors when you need some pink in your life!

New Shoes and More Basics

Some days you just want an easy and comfortable work outfit! Having some great basics makes things a lot easier. When you have a few pieces that you know will work together with little effort you can really feel pulled together any time. The other day I relied on my favorite work pants (seen in light pink here) with chambray and a new pair of shoes and called it a day.

I need to talk about these shoes!! They are by far the comfiest pair of heels I own. I've never been one that likes white shoes but this pair convinced me otherwise. The mix of white and hemp is perfect. The hemp straps are stretchy and comform to your foot for the perfect fit. Donald Pliner shoes are a bit on the pricey side but you really get a lot of quality and comfort for the price.

The Perfect Agenda

Even though it has been 5 years since I stepped foot into a classroom, August still feels like back to school time. I want to buy school supplies, new clothes and get myself ready for fall. As much as I want an excuse to buy them, I currently have no need for colored pencils, folders, binders and all other school supplies. One item that I can use is a new agenda.

Some people have transitioned completely to electronic day planners and some stick with an actual agenda. I am somewhere in the middle. I love my google calendar for appointments, meetings and other social events but when I need to organize my thoughts and plan out ideas, I need an agenda. Nothing beats crossing out all the lines in your to do list!

These Ban.do planners will not only keep you organized but encourage some fun! Like anything from this brand they are a quirky mix of fun and function. They are very popular and sell out every year! The pages have week and month layouts with plenty of room to get your life in order. They also have a page of stickers to add to calendars. Who doesn't love stickers?

I need a planner that can go with me anywhere. I am constantly switching purses and sometimes a larger planner just won't fit! These May Designs Agendas are super thin and customizable. You can pick from tons of different cover patterns with new designs coming out year round. Then you can add a monogram or quote to the front, the options are up to you. The inside is also customizable. You can pick from several different agenda layouts. If you need a workout, pregnancy or diet planner they have those options too!

I have an agenda and several notebooks from them. My next purchase may be an adult coloring book!! They also have notecards with the same covers, so all of your stationery can match!

For the super detailed oriented, I would recommend these Erin Condren life planners! The layout has room to plan everything! There are two layouts to choose from and monthly tabs. Plus there are tons of accessories to customize the planner to your needs. All of my teacher friends need to check out the teacher lesson planners!

Lounging Around

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a lazy Sunday which made me realize I need to step up my lounge wear. I've pulled together some great pieces that are not only comfortable but stylish. These eyelet joggers look perfect for the next day I spend on my couch reading. The ribbon trim on these leggings keep them from being your typical pair. I don't like to wear tennis shoes outside of the gym but I make an exception for keds. I just ordered these gold paisley keds and they'll be great for any time I am going super casual! With these picks, next time you spend a day relaxing you can leave the house with out worrying about your outfit!

Beauty Trend: Eyebrows

When the temperature rises, my makeup routine simplifies. There is no point in putting on a lot of makeup when I will be sweating it off. Working a corporate job, I still need to look polished and put together. Lately I have learned how important eyebrows are to your overall look. They frame your eyes and can really define your face.

It has become a big topic in the beauty world too! Gone are the days of pencil thin brows, now the more natural thick brows are on trend. My mom did a great job at teaching me not to overpluck my eyebrows, so I've naturally always had a brow a little on the thicker side. But they could still use some help!

Now most of us aren't born with perfect eyebrows like Cara Delevingne. Luckily for us mere mortals, there are lots of great eyebrow products. I have started using Maybelline Eye Studio Brow Drama. It is basically a brow mascara and comes in 5 colors, including clear. It is really a great product for a makeup beginner. It is completely natural and something you can do every day. Even on my most minimal makeup days, I still use this product.

The Maybelline Eye Studio Brow Drama provides a subtle change to your brows. I would recommend it to those that aren't wanting a dramatic change. If you need something to fill in your brows, this is not the product for you. It enhances the eyebrow shape that you already have.  I'll be looking into more intense eyebrow products soon, so check back.

HOW TO USE:
The brush is perfect for defining and combing your brows.  After wiping any excess off of the brush I start by swiping the gel from the outside edge of my brow to the inside. This seems to get the product on all of your brows. Then I go from the inside of the brow and, with short strokes, brush the brows into place. That's all you have to do to get defined brows!

New Arrivals

Two of my favorite shopping destinations have just released a ton of new arrivals! Both Anthropologie and JCrew have really outdone themselves. It's been hard for me not to purchase each one of these items! I have been searching for a short sleeved chambray shirt and this popover version seems perfect! This shimmery linen tee comes in several metallic colors and each one is prettier than the next. They are a great way to update a plain jeans and tee look.

Although it is 100+ degrees in Oklahoma right now, I have definitely started dreaming of Fall. This anorak jacket may be the first Fall purchase I make! The embellished sleeves are such an incredible update to the jacket. I can't wait to wear it with some distressed denim and heels. This pullover takes the guesswork out of layering! All you need to add is leggings and booties and you are ready for the leaves to fall.

What are your favorite new arrivals from Anthropologie and JCrew?

Freshening Up Some Basics

In college I went thru a stage where I wore a headband almost every day. I had all types and colors. They were an easy way to keep my hair looking polished with minimal effort! I guess I burnt myself out on headbands because I haven't worn them much in the last few years, until now.

On a recent shopping trip I found this headband at Anthropologie.  When I tried it on, two of my friends immediately complimented me on it so I had to take it home. I love how it adds interest to a simpler outfit.

Let's talk about this purse! It is part of Tory Burch's fall line. I picked it up during the Nordstrom's sale as a fall preview. It is convertible and can be worn as a shoulder bag and as a crossbody. It is going to be on constant rotation this fall. It is the perfect size bag for times you don't want to carry a big purse!

6 Months Already

I can't believe it, Everyday K is already 6 months old! Everyday K has been in my head for awhile and finally seeing it come to fruition is so exciting!  I have had a great time sharing with you on my little corner of the internet.

I went thru my posts and thought I would share a few of my favorites!

1 - 2 - 3

I'm always in a Lipstick State of Mind and have tried so many! These reds are still on constant rotation! My favorite look to add to a red lip is black winged liner. This eyeliner makes the process a lot easier!

1 - 2 - 3

These 3 looks are by far my favorite for the summer! After finally venturing out of my comfort zone and buying a crop top, it has become one of my favorite summer outfits! With all the Spring and Summer weddings and events, this maxi and this jumpsuit have been worn more than I even expected! They will also be going with me on a few trips I have coming up.

The change of seasons always gives me the urge to organize and clean out my closet, I use these guidelines to know what to keep and what to save. As I get my closet ready for Fall, I'll be mixing prints to give myself more outfit options.

Sharing this personal post was equal parts scary and exciting. I already share my passion for style with you but now I've shared another passion of mine!

What has been your favorite post?
